My kind of sushi...

Sushi? Kinda! Chocolate rolls, angel food cake shrimp things, cream cheese wasabi and apricot ginger...

...yummy!

I made these for girls night on Friday night. I told my friends I was making a surprise desert. One of my friends, Lauren, who has a propensity of not hiding her feelings in anyway and an equal propensity for her love of desert was pissed when I brought these out. Her face dropped and she started telling me "I hate sushi. I don't think it's funny that you think sushi is desert. Is this is a joke? You said desert!"
I took that as a compliment for how good they looked. The massive amounts of wine involved also helped the realism.

The Anti-Craving

I don't keep a lot of junk food in my house because I lack self control. Usually when I want something like brownies and cookies, I make myself bake them from scratch. That way I know I really want them if I go through that effort. Then once they're made, they last for about 2 days before I demolish whatever is sitting saran-wrapped on my kitchen table because if I don't eat them they taunt me and tease me and never let me forget they're there. Self con-what?

For the past 2 days there has been cheese cake in my fridge, breyers vanilla bean ice cream (my favorite) in my freezer, Hershey's chocolate syrup, whip cream and a giant bag of Reese's peanut butter cups.
Do you understand the endless possibilities of sugary, chocolaty, fatty goodness right at my fingertips?
I haven't touched them.

Good for me, you might be thinking, because, really I don't want them at all.
So why are they still haunting me? WHY? I keep thinking to myself, "Break up those Reese's, mix them in the ice cream! You love that!" "Pour some chocolate syrup on the cheese cake! It's so delicious!" I know this food is yummy, but I'm just so uninterested in them.
It's freaking me out that I don't want them, and I'm obsessing over the food in the same way I would if I were trying not to eat them...only...I don't want to eat them! What the hell, man?! What the hell?!

A Public Service Annocment:

Attention All;

Some may be becoming painfully aware that as fast as our delicious Samoa Girl Scout Cookies have entered our lives, they are quickly leaving us by way of our mouths. Of course, their chocolaty-carmel-coconut-chewiness is to blame. If they weren't so damn spectacular we wouldn't beam with delight whenever we set our sights on that precious purple box.

Have no fear, citizens of the world! Little Debbie to the rescue!

Behold The German Chocolate Cookie Ring!

These things are good.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being tasting most like a samoa, and 1 being tasting least like a samoa) the official testers (jeff and myself) have ranked these cookies at an 8!
Curious about how other items ranked on this scale?
Shampoo ranked in at 1, oatmeal climbed in at 4, and Samoas, with an unexpected twist, only ranked at 9.

Simple, delicious food

Here is my current favorite meal that Jeff and I make, at least once a week.

I didn't invent this thing, or even put a creative twist on it, I just make it and I love it.

Mozzarella and tomato sandwitch

Get some nice bakery bread, add mozzarella, tomato, pesto and spinich leaves and throw on the george forman until nice and melty.

the end.
